A must for tea lovers

Background: I've always boiled water on the stove. I saw no point in having another device on the countertop. But a trip to the UK in 2019 changed everything. Everywhere we stayed there was a kettle in the room. I was amazed at the speed at which they boiled water. I can make a delicious cup of tea in about 3 minutes. I should have had one. My first attempt at owning a kettle was a glass block from Costco. It was attractive and at the right price. The first and only attempt was a disappointment. Almost 10 minutes to bring a pot of water to a boil. I could do that with a standard kettle from our range. I repackaged it and took advantage of Costco's liberal return policy. But why did it take so long to cook? A little research proved revealing. The 230V standard in the UK is almost twice that in the US and the more power the less time in the kettle. So my next google was the fastest boiling kettle. One of the cheapest: the Revain Basics kettle. What I love: It only takes about 6 minutes to make a liter of water from a filtered tap and brew it in my Forlife kettle (another recommended Revain purchase). A few more minutes for a whopping 1.7 liters. The spout has a nice even filling. The matte metal case is not noticeable. It's simple and does what it's supposed to do pretty well. Oh, and I should mention that I bought this over a year and a half ago, so it's a quality build. What I don't like: It takes up a lot of space, but it's pretty damn useful. The side also feels hot, so keep your hand on the handle. Attention: If you have a gas stove, the boiling time should be significantly less than with a kettle.
