
This simple bracket solves our problems installing an alternator with double eyelets with no holes for additional bolts. It has no hesitation. This way you have to rotate the alternator 180 degrees so the adjustment screw is on the bottom instead of the top when looking at the engine. This isn't a problem, but alternator rocking can put your wiring in a tight position. If it was previously set at 3 o'clock you may need to change the position to 9 o'clock to bring the wiring back up if you don't want to run wires to the bottom of the generator. Also, on the original watch, the charge tab on the back of the viola was very close to the block and could short out if the set screw loosened. The solution for me was to change the old one. Clock 180 degrees. When you read about this, people say, be careful not to let the stem slip out of the brushes when you separate the alternator halves. This probably isn't difficult to fix, but you can avoid this problem entirely if you move the front half of the alternator away from the back without moving the shaft, as shown in this video I found: [Revane has the link removed so just search for "91lfKtbU7ew" on youtube] (thanks to Richard Mankins) My only recommendation is not to reassemble in one go as this will likely tighten the nut more tightly than before causing problems with the play of the Alternator fan can lead. What I did was use a small punch to create two opposite points (one on the nut and one on the variable shaft) and tighten again until the points line up again. One final note, I had to run the 3/8" 16 die on the main bolt that attaches it to the engine block, but that may be because my teenager had already assembled it before I checked the wiring situation and decided to close it remove and reinstall .that of course) but I had to clean the die before it screwed smoothly into the block.Just make sure all the screws are screwed into the block before assembling the bracket and you should be fine be!
