Couldn't use it as a secondary display

Let's start with the case, which is magnetic and intended to double as a stand. Must have the worst magnets because it took a miracle to keep it upright. He kept breaking down. Had to use 2 plugs to turn it on and this happened after about 10 minutes trying to use each individual cable supplied. I had to connect a USB/C to mini HDMI cable for the display to work. When the display came on I got very excited but then couldn't get it to work as a second display, only as an extension which wasn't what I needed. Now the display itself looked ok, so it might be because I don't have a fully compatible laptop or something, so I can't say it's a bug as it's probably a problem on my end. If someone has the right hardware I'm sure it will work fine, it just wasn't my plan.
