Want to switch to LEDs in a car that didn't come with them? You will most likely need a resistor. My 2006 Toyota Tundra. I only needed one so I have a spare. I also ordered a version with fog lights, but in the end I didn't need them, one of the H4 resistors solved all my problems. I installed it on a rail that connects the battery to the frame without touching the plastic and away from the battery. They can melt plastic if you get them too close. I just used zip ties to secure mine to the metal, which helps further dissipate the heat generated by the resistors. I'm going to use the hb4/9006 version I bought and ended up not needing them for my Tundra to install LEDs in my wife's (Honda) car. Resistors work by converting excess energy into heat. Your old halogen bulbs were so hot that if you even touched the bulb with your finger it would seriously shorten the life of the bulb due to the oil causing problems with the amount of heat generated. When hot, LEDs are significantly less hot than older incandescent bulbs and use less power. That performance in older cars has to go somewhere, or the computer decides something is wrong. These resistors absorb excess energy and turn it into heat, which means you'll burn yourself if you touch them, so be careful. Also carefully choose the place where you install them and choose a place where they will not melt.
