I've only had one for 3-4 weeks and it's working quite well but all I heard was a hiss after putting my cup on it. The noise would come and go after a few minutes and then become noticeable and I could smell burning plastic. I unplugged it and threw it away once it cooled. Don't buy this! Edit - Change of plans, instead of just throwing it out I opened it up and checked what happened, lots of cracks in the wires, it's CRAZY UNSAFE! Avoid at all costs. This is not an excuse, especially after a few weeks of use.
