Do they perform better than the original Swifter Dry clothing? Yes and no. I live in a house with ALL wood floors. We don't have pets, but my two daughters and I have long dark hair. I think we lost as much as a house full of pets :o) So my Swifter dry mop is a lifesaver and I use it every day in bedrooms and on the main streets of the house. The benefits of these new "heavy" pads? 1) They are wide (left to right on the squeegee head) so there is an overhang on either side of the squeegee. This works for me because the original Swifter pads were sometimes slightly shorter in width and would curl up on the edges of the squeegee, exposing the plastic squeegee head and thus letting dirt and lint through. 2) The thicker white "puffs" on the improved mop pads glide under and between furniture better than the original pad. Anyone who has hardwood floors knows that dust can collect under the bases of furniture and chairs that can be difficult to reach, especially when there are protective pads on the furniture bases. These little pads lift the furniture off the floor just enough for dust to collect underneath, and these new, thicker pads get into all those little nooks and crannies. For these reasons I prefer the new mop heads. They also pick up hair and dust off the tile floor a LITTLE better than the original pads which just pushed the dirt and hair off the tile floor in my bathroom. Do they generally pick up more dirt than the original pads? No, they collect the same amount of dust and fluff. But they work a little better on tile and their more generous size is enough for me to buy them again.
