VPN: Only works as a modem, not a router

Why the overall rating is as low as I can give it: because (a) Arris didn't explain VPN limitations clearly and wasted more than 6 hours Our Tim(b) Wi-Fi dropped out about every 5-10 minutes. Resetting was the only way out.1. Conclusion: In order for the VPN to work, I have to set the device to Comcast/XFinity in bridge mode. this. No WLAN. That means I need to buy another router that works with WiFi and/or Ethernet.2. In non-bridged mode, this prevents me from enabling IKE. This means my corporate IPSec is not available with IKEv2.3. I spent 4 hours trying to figure this out as I could ping the VPN server, connect to my VPN server via Hotspot/Verizon, etc. Authentication packets weren't reaching the VPN server. 4. I spent over 2 hours with Arris support and they couldn't figure out why I couldn't enable IKE. I finally found out that Comcast wanted the modem to work in bridge mode by looking at the Comcast.5 website. I couldn't enable IKE even after disconnecting the modem from Comcast. This made Arris.6 technical support very concerned. Arris technical support is seriously lacking. It's difficult to maintain the same connection to tech support when you're switching between a tech support chat hotspot and then to tethering WiFi to get to the tethering control panel. The connection dropped twice and I had to restart the conversation with another tech support person. This modem is being returned, but I'm open to suggestions for a different modem.
