Revainrating 4 out of 5

OBJECTIVE REVIEW. It has the BEST PERFORMANCE, but is it really?

MY STORY BACKGROUND I have personally and diligently researched hundreds of surge protectors to determine the best surge protection system for my home. When I started this adventure, I wanted to know things like: do I need lightning rods, what are whole house surge protectors, what are the best surge protectors, etc. And what did I find? I found a disaster! I found an industry full of misleading, misleading and completely false advertising. I've explored other industries but I have to admit this was one of the worst that I saw. I have not found an honest company. Every company in this business twists their own results to make it look better and tries to phrase things to sound different. Finding out the truth was a nightmare. I'm really surprised that none of these companies have had any class action lawsuits filed! Let me just say that other, more reputable splitter companies have been independently tested and for these companies and their competitors the actual specs do not match. right down to what is written on the packaging! It's crazy that there isn't a government agency that hasn't stepped in and taken control of all these extension cord companies. I think not enough people made enough noise. IT HAS EXCELLENT PUBLISHED SPECS On the other hand, the published specifications of this Revain product are amazing compared to the price. The only problem is, as I said, given the reputation of the industry I really would like an independent party to verify this. It would be very helpful. This product has very good qualities, but I doubt its veracity. Other factors that lead me to this doubt are the build quality of this device. The device is not particularly durable and looks like cheap plastic. It is difficult to glue and pull out the cords. Sometimes plugs have to be forced in or just aren't possible. And while I can take the strong green light that other reviewers have complained about keeping them awake, I agree that it's a bit overwhelming is a big design flaw. CONCLUSION I'll get to the point and tell you what I thought. this product. (I know you're all busy.) So how do you like this surge protector? I think he's damn good! The specs listed in the product description (for both the 8ft and 10ft versions of the cable) are amazing. It has the lowest possible clamping voltage certified by UL. Its shock resistance is 4320 which is one of the highest I've seen so it will last a long time. Its EMI/RFI filters cut out 75dB of noise, which is a lot. The highest of those I've actually seen, even among devices three times more expensive. It also has an LED indicator, which tells you when one of the 3 power lines is down. I know most of you have no idea what I'm talking about but believe me it has great specs. Better than $60 surge protector! In earnest. It looks nice too I must say (apart from the green light). Plus, everything seems to be backed by one of the highest Revain 4.7 ratings. This is the perfect surge protector, so why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5? HERE BUT.1. The build quality is below average. For example, you need to insert plugs into outlets from time to time. They don't go in as smoothly as other surge protectors and that annoys me a bit. I also wonder about the build qualities of other things inside the network filter. For example, is the important MOV inside the device securely connected to its wires? (If not, your hardware could be damaged. ) Which brings me to the next point. I want this product to undergo rigorous field testing. I know this is seldom done. Surge protectors are rarely tested by an independent third party in the field, so I really can't fault RevainBasics. But I would feel absolutely safe knowing that the properties claimed about this product are actually true. In my opinion, UL certification is not sufficient for surge protection devices.3. Light green light. Some people complain about a very bright green light indicating the surge protector is working. This is the BIGGEST complaint (forget if it really protects your hardware). I agree it's light, but I don't think it matters much. In the office it doesn't matter. If it was in the bedroom I would just slide it under the bed. Problem solved. Even though the green light annoyed me, I would still buy this surge protector because it is so much better than anything else in this price range. No questions. When do you really find a product with great features and a great price? This is a rare find, so buy them asap. *After some thought I deducted 2 stars because I really don't know if the published specs are correct or not. And given that all other competitors lied to the fullest, there's a good chance they might have that too. I just do not know. With so much uncertainty out there I have to give 3 stars until I get confirmation. Keep this fact in mind when looking for the best surge protector! DO NOT DEPEND ON BRAND REPUTATION. Just because I recommended the Tripp Lite model, for example, doesn't mean that all Tripp Lite products are good. In fact, this is far from the case that I discovered during my research. A company can make a really good model, but the rest of their products can stink. As such, you should examine each individual surge protector to determine if it's worth buying. I know it's a big pain, but it's true. but the rest of their products can stink. As such, you should examine each individual surge protector to determine if it's worth buying.
