These scissors are amazingly sharp and the spring does exactly what it is supposed to do. My biggest criticism of scissors is that the locking mechanism that is supposed to keep them closed is very poorly designed. I've had it for a little over a month (32 days) and have only been using it for a week and the locking mechanism has stopped working. So they remain open and I have two very sharp ends to contend with. When I finish my patchwork quilt, storage won't be nice and tidy. The locking mechanism is a single piece of plastic that slides over a very small piece of plastic that should hold it in place. But that's not the case. It slides up and then just right over the small piece of plastic it's supposed to hold. I am shocked by these scissors as I have never been disappointed with Fiskars before.
