We are getting our house ready to eventually put it up for sale so I painted our front door and removed a very old engraved door knocker that was there. Like one of the previous commenters, the old door knocker was one of those Moments Remembered pieces from Spain that are no longer in production, so I bought this door knocker after a previous very detailed review (thanks for your time!) as you can find another one at the hardware store returns. The holes in my door were already there and those two weird metal grommets didn't help as they didn't fit in the existing holes left by the old door knocker. 2 inch Screws provided were too short and the next size commercially available screws (2.5 inch) were too long. My husband ended up having to take a Dremel tool and saw off a quarter of an inch from each of the longer screws and now it's perfect. I hate that replacing the knocker was incredibly difficult and time consuming, but it's done and I don't have to think about it anymore.
