Review on ๐Ÿ“บ Channel Master Simple Remote CM-7000XRC: Apple TV 4K Compatible Replacement Remote Control by Brian Olson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great replacement for $&$*@ Apple TV Siri Remote

Apple TV is a great product with an absolute worst remote. The Channel Master Simple Remote has traditional buttons and works reliably and predictably (you don't have to spend half your time closing the audio menu if you're just trying to skip through a video). and handy size. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit thinner but no complaints. While it's not designed specifically for the AppleTV, it does have a nice, distinctive menu button that's really useful. A number of reviews state that they were unable to turn on the Apple TV with this remote, my Apple TV HD wakes up when I press the home button. I have an auto-switching HDMI box, so I only need this control to use my TV and AppleTV. The universal remote control feature is a bit tricky to set up, but for good reason. Instead of giving you a huge list of possible sets of IR codes, it's all programmed into the remote. You put it in universal study mode, then press the button to go to the built-in presets and see if you have the volume control. The device has many, many combinations - my TV withstood about 50 clicks. The remote functions work well for power and the volume control controls my Sonos Beam soundbar correctly. I use this with an old Panasonic TV. and a (new) optical Sonos Beam soundbar. You only lose 2 things here - Siri control and it only works as IR. It's not a compromise I'd think twice about now as I can actually navigate instead of making mistakes and correcting mistakes.

Pros
  • EASY PROGRAMMING - built-in code lookup
Cons
  • Some little things
