Review on ๐ŸŽง Sensational Sound: Explore the SMSL T2 Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier for Unmatched Audio Quality by Michelle Bonner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Clear sound, little power.

Clear sound, not enough power. I bought this to connect my phone or laptop to a pair of Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 (great headphones) at work. The MSR7 is only 35 ohms, but my laptop doesn't put out enough power to get these headphones as loud as I'd like. So, first I'm going to give you good news. The sound quality of the amplifier was really good. The block looks well made. I know some people have complained about the blue LEDs but I think they go well with the glow of the lamp element. Unfortunately, it's not all good news. My main complaint is that this amp doesn't have enough power output. It gets louder than my laptop on its own, but it does NOT get louder than my phone. Again, these are 35 ohm headphones; If you plan to use something beyond that, I would consider another option. My second complaint is that while the sound was good and clear, there really wasn't any "tubes" (tubes?) I did an A/B comparison as closely as possible and really couldn't tell any sonic difference. My A/B comparison lasted about 10 seconds and consisted of the following: - disconnect headphones from amp - disconnect amp from computer - connect headphones - adjust volume. think about an alternative. If you're looking for an amp that sounds truly tube-like, consider an alternative.
