We were remodeling our kitchen and cooking on the back porch until the mosquitoes chased us back inside, so we got creative with the tools we had . We found that we could boil eggs on the grate of our old waffle iron. But the nonstick coating started to blister and peel off. So we started looking for a cheap replacement. This one meets our requirements, except it doesn't have a flat pan surface. But wedge-shaped inserts for egg sandwiches work well. The block folds out and a full size ribbed pan can be used. Didn't try it for steaks or burgers. It doesn't get that hot. But it's a good size for wraps. And makes waffles!
