Review on πŸ”§ FEL-PRO VS 50518 R Valve Cover Gasket Set: Superior Performance and Durability by Kevin Stephan

Perfect fit without much effort

As this product is for the PT Cruiser I will write about it considering I have an '04 non-turbo PT Cruiser and I have noticed an oil leak in the #1 spark plug tube on several PTs The Cruiser forums have identified this as a minor annoyance with the PT Cruiser that can be fixed by replacing the hose seal. I have replaced all of the gaskets included in this kit and so far all of the spark plug tubes have been dry. I check for leaks every week. There is quite a bit of disassembly involved with this design of the PT Cruiser motor. Please use the Haynes or Chilton manual if you are unfamiliar with this process. Here are the steps: Gasket replacement passed: 1. Unthread and remove the airbox. Not required, but creates more space.2. Open the upper intake manifold and lift with bungee cords. Remove any screws or electrical components to provide more freedom of movement3. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir. The bolts were low, two in number. Without removal it was impossible to remove the valve cover.4. Remove the valve cover. You may need to pull or tap a little with a rubber mallet or mallet with a piece of cloth or wood in between to protect the valve cover from damage. Remove old seals, scrape off old RTV silicone. A carburetor cleaner and razor blade are great tools for this. Be careful not to scratch the aluminum.6. Install the spark plug tube gaskets and rocker cover gasket into the rocker cover, apply RTV to the metal where the rocker cover sits at the corners or seams.7. Collect everything back.8. I hope it starts.
