Review on πŸ•°οΈ Sony ICFC1PJ Alarm Clock Radio,Black: Sleek and High-Performance Wake-Up Companion by Andrea Jackson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good fully functional alarm clock that worked great - within 18 months

I received it as a gift to my wife in December 2016. That was the highest price point for an alarm clock β€” at least I think so, but we're Sony fans and need an alarm clock that (1) doesn't take up too much room on our bedside table, (2) has multiple alarms, and (3) projector. We never really used nature sounds or the radio, but it was nice to know they were there. This product meets all of our requirements. So why only three stars? I think I should give them two stars but today I'm feeling gracious. The problem started less than 18 months after receipt. The alarm worked as it should and continued to work. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP We couldn't turn it off. BEEP BEEP BEEP None of the buttons worked, we even turned it off. GDP GDP GDP What is this? Poltergeist? Thanks to the backup battery, even turning it off didn't stop the alarm. I removed the backup battery, which wasn't easy either thanks to the screw cap, and it went silent. Tell me about your shitty ways to start the day. I've never seen anything like this. I've searched the internet for similar advice on how to fix this. A little. A few random message boards, a few reviews, but not many. There was a guy who recommended a sort of 12-step "reboot" process, where you remove the backup battery while holding down the alarm's snooze and off buttons, turn it off, turn it back on, and then the dance irish jig , sacrifice a maiden on a mayan pyramid and pour one for your dead homies. Okay, I might take some creative liberties, but you get the point. Nothing worked. I even tried master trick #1 by slapping him on his side. In short, this is the first time in my life that my alarm clock actually broke. Seriously, I threw away a few just because they were old or because they'd outlived their usefulness, but this? This is something completely new for me. Now I'm a little torn. My wife really liked this angular little waking bastard, but am I going to get another one knowing full well it could ruin me in a year or so? I mean come on As if we had nothing to fear. I think I could use a cell phone, but am I a Neanderthal? A person should have an alarm clock, am I right? Just be careful when considering this option. I have a feeling that they have developed some kind of self-destruct mechanism. Or maybe the government put some kind of spy bug in there and screwed it up.
