So the whole point of a tea strainer is to brew loose tea without getting dirt into the drink. I only use tea bags but I bought this one because sometimes a tea bag tears when opened and I hate wasting an entire tea bag just because it's torn. I figured I could just stick the torn tea bag in a strainer and voila, no more wasted tea bags. no I used it once. I put a whole bag (with a slight tear) in a strainer and somehow it didn't filter the tea at all. My cup immediately filled with garbage. Total failure. They might have worked well with real loose leaf tea if the chunks in the mix were quite large, but my tea had chunks that were probably two millimeters long and they still filled my cup. It feels strong and well built, and like he said it could work great for real loose tee, it just didn't work for me.
