Review on Wells CR445 Clutch Position Switch by Steve Rohde

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fixed starting issues with a 2003 Dodge Dakota manual transmission. Try this before you buy a new starter!

My 2003 Manual Transmission Dodge Dakota (it has 100,000 miles on the odometer) sometimes stalled before I started when I turned the key, eventually it wouldn't start at all. I followed some dead ends, like cleaning the battery posts and replacing the starter motor, before realizing it was probably the switch. If you have a manual transmission and are having intermittent or persistent problems with your starter you can bypass this switch by repositioning the jumper and see if that fixes your starting problems, if so then you will likely need to replace this switch floor below. your clutch pedal. The connector was a bit bulky so I needed pliers and a screwdriver to remove it, but other than that it can be replaced without tools. YouTube has a great video about this Switch recall from 2006 showing how to remove and reinstall this Switch.
