Review on πŸ”‹ SUKAI Rechargeable AA Batteries: 2800mAh 1.2V, Low-Self Discharge, 1200x Recycling Times - Pack of 8 by Vanessa Jones

Revainrating 2 out of 5

2 of 12 failed in less than 6 months

Bought SUKAI batteries for an automatic lidded bucket in April 2021. It takes six AA batteries to run and lasts about 3 weeks, so I had plenty of alkaline batteries ($15 every 4-5 months). Yesterday I replaced six empty SUKAI batteries with six freshly charged ones, but the lid didn't work at all - even the LEDs didn't light up. I've tried other batteries (non-rechargeable) and they worked fine, so the bin wasn't the issue. I then tried to charge all 12 SUKAI batteries one after the other. Two of them wouldn't charge and were apparently the reason why the lid wasn't working. My guess is that they are somehow overheating and shorting out. The remaining 10 are still working. Two out of 12 failed after only 4 months. This is disappointing. I suspect a manufacturing defect and wonder how long the remaining 10 will last, or I'm jeopardizing the circuitry by using rechargeable batteries that could fail. I honestly don't know, but perhaps the safest route would be to go back to alkaline.
