We bought 2 of these for the kids rooms as they were getting older. It was interesting to have her around. Both, projected side by side on the ceiling, are very different. One is the time as expected, the other is the big red square and of course you see the time in red but you also see every other area of the LCD greyed out. very strange. I sent in a replacement Revain and we'll see how well it works. Also, the watch is great. The time/date are set automatically almost immediately after the power is turned on. It has a lithium battery, so it might come pre-configured at the factory, but the instructions say it will automatically adjust after a power outage. I haven't tried removing the battery to see if it's really an atomic clock, auto-adjusting to radio signals or not. The dimmer button is only used to force the automatically dimming front display to the minimum required brightness. So if you're in a well-lit room and it's automatically running at maximum brightness, turning the brightness slider down doesn't matter. However, if you're in a dark room and the display automatically dims to a very dark display, you can use the knob to brighten it up. There's no way to make it darker in a brightly lit room (no real problem, just explaining how it works). The night light is too bright and both children refused to use it. It illuminates (weakly) the whole room and is not adjustable. I could look at some dark tape/film I could put on to get it to the point where they can use it as they like night lights and I thought it might replace some of the battery operated baby flashlights that are used use them, and burn batteries. The numbers are large and legible from across the room. I like the blue color too. I wish the projection wasn't red, but it is. I like that the alarm can be set for a specific day of the week, weekends, days of the week, or every day. This helps during school hours and allows them to sleep on the weekends without having to turn the alarm on and off every night. The speaker isn't impressive, but it's enough for an alarm clock. I don't expect great sound from a $30 clock radio. The radio tuner is adjustable in 0.1 increments and is digital (no dial to try and guess what number you're on). Reception is reasonable but not outstanding, although this may be my location/home so I won't bang on it. It doesn't look like you can use a USB device as a source for alarm music, but you can plug it in, presumably for charging (max 5V/1.2A or 6W, so slow) and the speaker on The clock uses your device's output, but I haven't tried it and wouldn't recommend it as the speaker isn't outstanding. In general, the user interface is well designed. The buttons are large, well placed and easy to understand. The wheel on the right can be used as a scroll wheel to select options, or you can intuitively swipe left/right/up/down. nice gesture. 4 stars for what I consider a flawed projection. If the replacement is good and I don't have any other display issues (which seems to be an issue on multiple brands in the reviews these days) I'll bump it up to a 5. Good watch. Edit: got a replacement. It's "better" but not as good as the best we have. The red square is smaller, but the rightmost digit is also a bit dark. Bad quality control. I disassembled the mechanism in hopes of doing something right, but the whole projector is a self-contained super small unit that wasn't worth breaking, so I gave up. We keep 4 stars.
