The Actiontec/TiVo Coax to Ethernet Adapter is an extremely cost-effective way to convert your existing coax lines into Ethernet cables. First, you'll probably need two of these: one "encodes" the data into the coax, and at the other end the second "decodes" the data from the coax into the ethernet. That's how useful these adapters are for me. I have a rented cottage 300 feet from my house. When I installed the new wiring in 1999 I was running coax into the ditch thinking I could run cable TV into the cottage. Fast forward to 2021 though and I REALLY want to run a hidden ethernet line back to the cottage. Voila! Place one of these Actiontec adapters on one end of an old coax and another on the other end, and you'll turn your existing hidden coax into a FAST Ethernet line! Don't think that these adapters have anything to do with television: they are adapters. Of course, they also work well with cable TV signals, but that doesn't bother me. A LOT of houses are wired all the way with coaxial cable, even with connectors built into the walls. Don't let those old coax lines go unused, make them work with high-speed internet!
