Somethingnet Extended Home Network over Coax

Adding an Actiontec/TiVo MOCA Ethernet over Coax Adapter to an existing home network with a Verizon FIOS Actiontec router. The Verizon FIOS Actiontec router provides power to Verizon set-top boxes over coaxial cable. I connected the Actiontec/TiVo MOCA to Ethernet Adapter to the coax network via the device's coax input, and the Ethernet port immediately established a network connection. Plugged in an Actiontec/TiVo MOCA adapter for ethernet over coax into a Verizon set top box and it kept…

Plug and Play Coax to Ethernet Adapter

The Actiontec/TiVo Coax to Ethernet Adapter is an extremely cost-effective way to convert your existing coax lines into Ethernet cables. First, you'll probably need two of these: one "encodes" the data into the coax, and at the other end the second "decodes" the data from the coax into the ethernet. That's how useful these adapters are for me. I have a rented cottage 300 feet from my house. When I installed the new wiring in 1999 I was running coax into the ditch thinking I could run cable TV…

Works! Multiple calls to TIVO support and multiple calls to onsite support using Xfinity failed to install my new cable. After weeks of listening/watching them scratching their heads during visits to my house with no solution, I decided to do it myself. I decided my situation couldn't be worse. It took me less than an hour to realize that my MOCA network, which worked fine with FIOS, would not work with Xfinity because my MOCA adapter had a speed cap of less than 300MB. When I upgraded to…

Moca's easy setup works well for NICs

My cable company wanted to charge me for all sorts of recurring payments so I could watch Tivo in another room. I set up a Moca network with this bridge and my Premiere 4 Tivo and added a Mini Lux to the extra room. Very easy to set up and no additional monthly fees. Works perfectly.

TiVO MOCA adapter works as promised

I got tired of renting a modem from Mediacom so I bought my own modem and wireless router. Unfortunately they didn't support MOCA and as a result the channel guide didn't work on my TV boxes. After doing a lot of research I decided to buy this Actiontec/TiVO MOCA adapter. It arrived very quickly and was very easy to install. The instructions were fine and it only took a few minutes to install - just plug it in between the outlet and the modem and you're done. My TiVO cable boxes are showing my…

Now I can use my own router instead of the Fios router!

I am a Verizon Fios customer and purchased this Moca adapter specifically to use my own router instead of the provided Fios G3100 router which includes the Moca adapter required for their cable TV service. I took a chance as it wasn't on Verizon's short list of compatible devices BUT it works fine, at least for me. Guide menus, digital services and apps are displayed instantly, and the voice-activated fios remote control works seamlessly. I'm so fortunate to be able to use my own router which I

Easy to install Suitable for network products

Works great. These are standard Actiontec MoCA 2.0 adapters called Tivo. Please note that cable TV pass-through is optional and optional. I'm using mine connected to an 8-port Ethernet switch (TRENDnet - TEG-S82G 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch). Perfect. I'm a lucky tourist.
