So that was my problem. I reinstalled the head on my Mazda 3-2007 "i". When I started timing the engine, the rod didn't fit into the camshaft slots. I had to raise the camshafts to use the rod and that didn't help me install the timing chain. I used a smaller control screw and it worked fine. Anyway, the engine is reassembled and works well.
