Review on 💡 Enhanced Routing Capabilities with Actiontec GT701D Ethernet DSL Modem: Efficient Internet Connectivity Solution by Eric Nallamothu

An interesting problem is that the modem communicates with my ISP (ATT), my wireless router works when connected to my old modem but not this one Modem. Of course, Actiontec tech support freaked me out and said they weren't the problem. However, I'm curious that the router still works with my old modem, so it's not a router setup issue. When I tried to explain this to tech support (and had to go through language difficulties on the same call) and that there might be a protocol issue between the two devices, they were quick to tell me that the modem would talk to my ISP, then not them . problems and call someone else. So, I've spent about three hours on this and still no luck. Luckily the old modem still works, and just to satisfy my curiosity I'm going through the setup details in the old hardware menu line by line, comparing them to the new modem's menu and seeing if I can find the problem. If it was a purchase due to a faulty modem I would speak to Revain about a refund as there would be virtually no way to manually change the 20 lines of setup options in exactly the right order to match what the router searches without help. Weirdly, the auto-detection seemed to work fine during setup, but it just can't communicate with the rest of my system, so I didn't have to go into manual mode to reconfigure it. I can't imagine it will take me less than two hours as tech support ended my call so quickly. Bottom line, I would stay away from this product if you really don't care if it comes out of the box and you have a day to learn the small home network communication protocol settings yourself. In fact, Actiontec needs to learn more about customer service practices in the US.
