Fast Trail Tires - Tires and Tubes

I wanted to replace my 2.4" XR3 Bontrager (XC tires) with something that offered more grip for trail riding but wasn't too heavy. I chose this tire and it delivers what it promises. This is a good tire for fast driving. It's light and fast. It's definitely slower than the XR3 it replaced, but I feel more confident looking down and seeing the more pronounced Pirelli Scorpion knobs. In my opinion it's a good tire for fast riding and could be good for marathon racing as long as you don't mind that it's a bit slower than the XC tires. It can also be suitable for aggressive XC racing, but can be too gnarly and slow for "normal" XC racing. I rode them on rocky terrain until there were no more punctures and they held air for weeks. I took these tires where people usually use Minions DHF or DHR and I was fine. I never felt like I needed more grip, but the benefit was that I was faster uphill. So it can also be suitable for light enduro if you are not too heavy or too aggressive. I ride in California where it's dry so I can't comment on its dirt resistance, but since the knobs are relatively close together I don't think it will shed dirt very well. Fitting these tubeless tires to my Bontrager Kobee carbon rims was a breeze. After about 400 km of driving I could not find any obvious tire wear. Please note that I only weigh 66 kg, am not aggressive and don't breathe much. If you are serious about cross-country racing or aiming for these KOMs, I suggest you look at the Scorpion H rather than these Ms. They are too slow for cross-country in my opinion, but good for marathon and trail. Ride.

Pros
  • A tire that combines performance, lug spacing and a design that is ideal for mixed conditions such as undergrowth and dirt roads, both dry and wet.
Cons
  • Available in black only.
