I made the mistake of purchasing the King Deluxe 1000 as my first Japanese sharpening stone. Don't get me wrong, King 1000 is a very good stone for $20. However, after using it for a few months, I got tired of having to soak it for 30+ minutes each time and decided to invest in a good spritz and get started. The Chosera 800 was undoubtedly an excellent choice. I don't regret spending $20 on the king because I now have a reference and a good second stone. Most people just looking for an efficient way to sharpen their knives should save the $20 and just buy the Chosera 800. ADVANTAGES: - The cutting speed is just great. You can sharpen blunt knives in 5 minutes - The feel and feedback is very pleasant - A real splash and go. Just spray some water and you're good to go. Wears out very slowly. LASTS FOR MANY, MANY YEARS - Plastic base provides hand freedom and a non-slip base - Comes with high quality Nagura stone. CONS: No complaints. Instead, you should buy Choseras while they are still available.
