PERFECTION in power and hand tools

I made the mistake of purchasing the King Deluxe 1000 as my first Japanese sharpening stone. Don't get me wrong, King 1000 is a very good stone for $20. However, after using it for a few months, I got tired of having to soak it for 30+ minutes each time and decided to invest in a good spritz and get started. Buy this stone! best in sharpers

I switched from my 20 year old Henkels Pro S to a Mac Pro MTH-80 last year. I bought a King 1000/6000 combo stone for $30 and learned how to sharpen it by watching YouTube videos. The 1000 grit king cut fast, cut slow, and produced thick, dirty shavings composed of as many stone particles as knife particles (not good). If you are looking for one of the best 1K grit waterstones and money is not an issue then look no further. I'm not sure why Naniwa chose that particular Cho tag '800 Grit' - and then also offered another Chosera 1K stone to compete with. In the end, all that was done was to affect the visibility and sale of this stone, which in my opinion (and in the opinion of many) is the better stone of the two. Many buyers of 1K bricks would automatically choose Cho 1K over 800, largely due to familiarity…
