Not worth buying

Potential buyers, I'm not looking for freebies from Topeak. That's my honest assessment. Do not buy. This light is an immature, poorly designed and poorly made poop for the following reasons: 1. The main benefit is that it integrates seamlessly with your Topeak luggage rack. However, the mounting tabs are too big for the rack mounting holes (I have an Explorer MTX rack). I had to force the headlight plastic through the mounting holes with self-tapping screws.2. See 1. They permanently attach this poop to self-tapping screws! If you remove it, it won't be as secure the next time you install it. Without 3.3 this would be less of a problem. To access the batteries, you need to press the thin plastic tab on the bottom of the device and slide the red plastic case (against significant friction). Two problems with that. First, the plastic case is likely to deform due to attachment. Second, mount it in the rear wheel splash zone, and because it's solid, it's going to get a lot of sun. The fragile tab will quickly deteriorate and then detach, rendering the light unusable.4. Batteries are not rechargeable, although USB batteries are common. I took disposable batteries for this taillight because it needed to fix the post well and ended up with a disposable taillight. The brightness is unacceptably low. It is drastically weakened by the viewing angle and is not noticeable from any angle. Finally, Topeak doesn't even include two self-tapping screws - they ship one with a stand and one with a light, like it's a jigsaw puzzle. How cheap and sloppy is that? This small detail added to the general feeling that this entire Topeak "integrated" product line is a fundraising scam hatched in a boardroom full of Mr. Burns clones. but don't repeat my mistake if you just want to hook something up to your rack. Unfortunately, for an excellent product, a homemade taillight bracket will serve you better.
