I bought a Blu-ray drive from another company and I've had nothing but problems with it. I returned it and bought this Buffalo drive. Doesn't matter! Two minutes after opening the box I was already watching a movie! (I had already downloaded the latest software from the internet and didn't try to install anything from the disc that came with it.) I've tried the drive on both my laptop and desktop with no problems. Please note that it comes with two USB cables, the second one is available for additional power supply. The second cable was not used. The (thicker) main cable feeds the device perfectly. Too bad the USB cable is so short. BUT I like the fact that it wraps tightly around the storage device, so I'll settle for a short cable in favor of storage. (The thinner USB power cable is stored under the device. The thicker USB data cable wraps around the side of the device, and the connector itself has a handle that fits into a groove to hold the cable in place.) We recommend!
