A small Blu-ray burner that

As a reader, it is absolutely reliable and extremely portable. I think this is one of the best options. The burner can be a little slow, but hey, that's what you get when you buy a thick loaf Blu-ray-class burner. I recommend this to everyone (especially when the price drops like I bought for $59).

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • There are shortcomings

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Stopped burning 2 months after purchase

The recorder had a write error message in 3 different programs. I thought there might be a problem with the disc and tried the disc with another burner that I have. I had no problems burning the disc. Low product quality. I speak to Buffalo customer service and they are unwilling to help. Terrible product from a terrible company!

  • GOLS certification

Great Blu-ray drive for the money

Great deal! Plug in and go, as Windows 7 and later will automatically detect it. It really can stand the test of time (I've left it on for 12+ hours a few times) and still works well. Plays store bought Blu-ray discs flawlessly. It burns BD-R and BD-R DL discs effortlessly. You can use it with popular programs like Nero Burning Rom, IMG Burn and Convert X to DVD. It also burns DVD+R and DVD+R DL discs. It requires 2 USB ports to work. I love this CD so much I bought another one! (April 2018)

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • A few little things

Works well, cable could be better.

The drive came with a USB 2.0 cable with a second USB cable (for power only). Pulling the cable from the side reveals a full-size Micro USB 3.0 connector, which should provide both more power and speed for the computer. Although the cable is designed to be compact, it comes at the expense of speed and ease of connection to a computer since USB cables are very short (about 15cm). Once connected, the device works on Mac, Windows and Linux. You may want to use a longer USB 3 to USB 3 Micro cable…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Big and bulky

The drive is fine if you're not trying to use it as advertised.

2 points for terribly misleading advertising. On the box it says in big blue letters that it will play 4k HD and 3D. Then in the lower right corner it says in small print that it is not supported for "UltraHD Bluray Disc" i.e. HELLO 4k! I should have known that. Basically, you can't play 4k Blu-ray on PC unless it is M-DISC. I will use the disk for other purposes, but that is misleading. What it actually says is that it can play and burn BDXL discs. However, when you try to play a purchased UHD

Short cable, great device

This device did /exactly/ what I wanted it to do: play the BD movies I ordered so I could make sure they were error free. And most likely it does everything else that it purports to do the same. As others have noted, the cables are fairly short and I only needed one of these to play BD discs, although other functions may actually require a second one. On the plus side, the cables are kept in place when not in use, so they don't get in the way. The disc contained the full CyberLink 12 package…

Near Perfect Best in Blu-ray Drives

Our office uses Blu-ray burners to display data discs which may contain criminal information. Disks are used constantly and moved frequently. One issue we've found with other drives is that over time, users warp the drive's load/eject door (by pushing down to insert the end of the drive). We switched to slots and players with maximum load. Then we started having issues with the cable on the back where users would put the player in a pocket while leaving the cable connected. This weakened the…

Loud, invading privacy, annoying

Thias test report on "Buffalo MediaStation 6x BDXL Portable Blu-Ray Recorder with M-DISC Support (BRXL-PT6U2VB), Black". Mini CD to install the software which takes 20 minutes to install (I only chose the movie player and burner for blueray), I didn't get all the malware that comes with the CD, the first thing you will notice is very loud Be aware that you will not like a movie with that much noise, secondly the movies have never been played for one simple reason: you have to give them your…

Works great, easy to install

I bought a Blu-ray drive from another company and I've had nothing but problems with it. I returned it and bought this Buffalo drive. Doesn't matter! Two minutes after opening the box I was already watching a movie! (I had already downloaded the latest software from the internet and didn't try to install anything from the disc that came with it.) I've tried the drive on both my laptop and desktop with no problems. Please note that it comes with two USB cables, the second one is available for…
