Watched YouTube on this machine before buying, I needed to scan some documents outside the office, so I took the scanner with me. It was new, in a box. Easy to set up - just follow the instructions. Scanned documents without prior practice. There is no computer available to see how I am progressing with the speed of scanning and aligning the document. Used it both ways - and with a magic wand flipping pages and skipping pages through the dock. Starting with a PDF, I then settled on a JPG so I could crop and adjust the color in my photo software if needed. Came home, checked on the computer - everything worked! Only used once so far.
