I had trouble placing hot microwave bowls on a tray or under a plate. The heating bowls are too hot to touch, and when I put them in two oven mitts, those oven mitts interfere with putting the bowl on the bottom and usually get all the soup. These pins solve the problem. I can clip them to the rim of the bowl and pull the bowl out of the microwave with one hand and then set it down anywhere. I ALWAYS use my other hand to hold the oven mitt UNDER the bowl during transport (just in case), but the clamps are strong enough that lifting and moving them doesn't feel flimsy or unreliable; I'm just a cautious guy. Sometimes the contents of the bowls stand on the edges and the food gets caught on the pegs; I just rinse them off with hot water and let them dry. Been doing this for a few months and no rust, wobble or other damage. I am very happy. By the way, I'm 70 years old, I'm a woman, and I'm not Hercules, so it doesn't take much strength to use them safely.
