Review on 🧀 Ritz Royale Collection Graphite 100% Cotton Terry Cloth Pocket Mitt Set: 2-Piece Dual-Function Hot Pad & Pot Holder by Caleb Thomas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My second "helper " for hot cast iron pizza pans, 475 degrees for 35 minutes

Let me stress that I don't put my hand in my pocket; I use them like regular potholders, full thickness. All those descriptions of oven mitts, gloves and oven mitts saying they are good up to 500 degrees, 575 degrees and beyond sound great until you read the reviews or questions that users have answered. Hardly anyone says for which temperatures they use them. If you want something that heats up to 550 degrees for more than two seconds, you won't find it for $20-$30, period. There is a commercial leather device that sells for over $45 that will protect you up to 575 degrees. What else, read the reviews. Cheap, so-called "Extreme Heat" gloves and mittens aren't, unless you think 400 degrees is extreme. It's a fact. If it takes you more than 5 seconds to put the pot on, you'll feel it. Also, people tolerate heat differently. What is bearable for some is unbearable for others, that is also a fact. I use them to take my cast iron pizza out of the oven. I use an old silicone pad PLUS one of these to grip the handle and one of these in my left hand as an assistant to lift and place on the counter. The other day my son used his popular $25 silicon coated glove to pull out a pizza and it melted, the silicon coating was completely destroyed. I gave him my set for the next one - no problem. My fixed set of silicone pads is fifteen years old and hasn't left a mark. They're twice the thickness of the ones sold today and I still use a cast iron Ritz pizza mitt with them. These pans are hot. I have four sets of these Ritz pot holders that alternate as coasters on the table. Today they are as good quality as the set I bought a dozen years ago, thick, thick, thick.
