Review on NETGEAR Centria Gigabit Wireless WNDR4700 by David Roberts

Crashes at any traffic load are often disabled

Another device with great potential and features but poor performance and quality. I was very happy to find this device as it made it easier for me to share files, but I found it unreliable at best. Any high traffic load will cause storage or WiFi to fail. Transferring large files is not possible as this will crash and lose connection. Even using USB ports with 3 thumb drives is painfully slow and again suffers from the same disconnecting problem before the transfer is complete. The WiFi cuts out just when you're doing something important and takes at least 5 minutes to come back on. Can any of these manufacturers make a router that doesn't need to be rebooted? This is 2015. How many times have you had to unplug your device and wait, then plug it back in and wait because it stopped working properly? In the consumer market, there should be certain quality standards for electronics manufacturers because there are so many of these devices that only work under optimal conditions and fail in the hands of consumers. This device is DENIED!

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • Worries me
