Good for carpets but not appliances

It will do the job but I use these pads to protect the finishes of my washer and dryer. . My husband invariably uses them to spread things out and rather than end up arguing about him scratching my beautiful, expensive gadgets, I cut this trim and spread it over my cars. This particular rug looks a bit yellowish and looks sickly on my white devices, so I'm going to use it under the rug instead (imagine that!). Just wanted to check this out for anyone who might have intentions of using it in a similar way. There are "whiter" of whites. But if you use under carpet, go for it!
