I want to read the comments carefully before buying this rug. Put it under the tray and it perfectly catches the dirt that comes out of the tray. A few days later I gave my room a thorough cleaning and found that one of our cats had (quite often) urinated over the edge of the litter box onto the mat. The urine did not appear as a wet spot on the carpet, but instead seeped through and 'matured' the smell on the floor. It is not easy and not pleasant to deal with. I was thinking of putting something waterproof (urine) underneath and using it to collect dirt, but it would need to be checked daily to make sure it wasn't being pissed off, and probably not. not worth the effort.
