This bracket was for my trailer replacement. It's aluminum and lightweight, and the end result works flawlessly. HOWEVER, I had to make a few technical decisions to install it. Firstly, the included self-tapping screws used to attach the bracket could not hold the mounted tire in any way (presumably a working spare). It would be too thin and could break. I used nuts and bolts with a lock washer and had to drill a slightly larger hole to accommodate them. The second issue was that the bolt that attaches the tire to the bracket uses a locking-threaded nut. How many people actually carry the right wrench to undo such a screw? Most people have a wrench and some kind of jack. I think the AAA membership would be a good help. I bought a thumbscrew to replace the one that came with the unit. If it came with the correct mounting bolts and a decent wing nut to attach the bar it would be a 5 star product. Anyway I can only bet 2 as 1/2 of the result has nothing to do with what was in the box.
