I didn't want to buy a new printer. My 20 year old Laserjet 4000 worked perfectly, thank you. Until this suddenly happened when some of the internal parts of the frame burst, and now it is considered irreparable. So. Now I have this new printer. The footprint is slightly smaller than the 4000 and the print speed is MUCH faster. Ensuring I got the 'DN' model and not just the 'N' was more work than it should have been, but it all worked out in the end. I still regret not needing a new printer. But if I must have one, this one will do the job very well. EDIT: OR NOT. Apparently, unlike its (fantastic) predecessor, this printer uses "chip" toner cartridges which cost more than a **** printer. I have already purchased a replacement (for the printer, not the cartridge). I'm still debating whether to return the printer or send it in for recycling. Anyway, I bought my latest HP.
