I bought this cage and the cage that came with a stand. The cage arrived very well packaged, box and contents were undamaged. Since I assembled the one with the stand last week, this one was easy to assemble. The only thing that needed a bit more strength were the top bars that attach the top to the cage. These brackets were slightly bent and didn't match the holes or screws perfectly. The instructions are simple and come with drawings that are easy to follow once you start thinking about how the end product will work. Assembly only took about 1/2 hour. While I'm not a fan of dowel rods, the ones provided seem good for using low in the cage to allow birds to jump to the floor to feed. I put branches up at both ends and another branch lower in the middle. My parrot finches seem to be constantly flying from side to side, taking advantage of every inch of this cage. Currently living in the cage are a couple of red factor canaries, 2 redfinch parrots and 2 female goldfinches. Once I move the canaries to another cage I think the cage is the perfect size for 4 finches and easy to separate with the divider provided when they decide to start nesting. So far I'm very happy with the cages and stand and would recommend it if you're buying a decent wide breeder/flight cage for small birds. I have no experience with birds larger than budgies, canaries or finches so I'm not sure it would be suitable for anything larger.
