Review on Break The Ice With Ease: Cuda'S Durable Stainless Steel Ice Pick (18119) by Gladys Aranjo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Better this time around

After only 3 strikes on ice with the pictured ice pick, the tip made a 45-degree turn, rendering it totally useless. I've been using cheap ice picks for years and never had this problem. There are complaints here about receiving these picks with blunt tips, conversely this one was too long and sharp to withstand a couple stabs at frozen water. Poor manufacturing consistency.Update: The manufacturer replaced the ice pick with the bent tip at no charge, which earns them an A. However it took 18 days, which earns a D. I've upgraded my rating to 4 stars because the new ice pick has withstood some very serious use removing ice dams from my roof. I love the big fat grippy handle but I don't like the big fat shaft. Thinner shafts are more effective at piercing and cracking ice. Reduce the shaft diameter by about 30 percent and this could be a real winner.

Pros
  • I am a big guy and it fits perfectly in my hand. It works as expected.
Cons
  • The blade is too large for small ice cubes
