Review on 22-Piece Oster Baldwyn High-Carbon Stainless Steel Cutlery Knife Block Set in Brushed Satin Finish by Mark Colbert

Understanding the weaknesses of the product. Disappointed

I think this is a gift item as it contains many items and initially has a great bang for your buck. After about a month of ownership, the dishes have never been hand washed or dried. The black paint is peeling off the wood (possibly pressed material) and has started to peel where commonly used knives are. This is currently negligible and the grips will cover most or all imperfections when glued. Also, knife handles are not riveted or are one-piece handles, be they 2 separate handle pieces held together with some sort of plastic/glue/sandblast material. I gave him 2 points for the skill of the block and holds. I would pay $5 or $10 more for a decent block and maybe $20 more for the grips. My last knife set (Chicago Cutlery) was the cheapest set and lasted 20 years in the dishwashing. I'm afraid this one won't last 5 years. .
