Good product for the price. I used a 1.0mm waxed hemp wick I got from Revain with 14mm grommets and they worked fine. 12mm could have been used but double the price so I went with that instead. The thickness of the wick varies depending on the wax, so the extra room in the stem was good. I crimped close to the top as other reviewers recommended, but 10% of my bases were slightly bent so they didn't lay flat. Then I discovered that crimping from the top instead of the side is the trick to get a 100% flat base =) The hemp wick burns very slowly to keep the flame high. It may not be a suitable material for making soybean candles for essential oil warmers, but the burning quality is very good for large, slow-burning natural wax candles. I am new to candle making and have found it difficult to find information on 1:1 wick/tongue compatibility. I am looking for another alternative to hemp with a pre-waxed natural wick. Any help or comprehensive resource suggestions from experienced candle makers will be greatly appreciated :)
