Good SSD until it stops working

I just need a small SSD as a boot drive for my aging Windows desktop. This SSD fully meets all requirements. Good performance, quiet operation, easy installation, great price! But. After a little over a year it just stopped working and was inaccessible at all, not even to reformat. Unfortunately no response from Gigastone despite numerous attempts to contact them via website support and email. What's the point of offering a guarantee anyway if you don't support it.
