I received this product for free by completing a product questionnaire. My son enjoyed it as he has homework every night and has a hard time with a regular pencil sharpener, if the lead breaks it will be troublesome to pull it out. I also have an electronic pencil sharpener, but I'm having the same problems. This one is good because it has a sharpening style rather than a blade style so it's basically impossible to get a lead stuck if you have a pencil with a broken lead inside, so that's a big plus! I was happy to see that it comes with batteries, definitely a plus. However, after I pulled the pull tab, it still didn't work. I thought maybe the batteries were dead as they are not well known brands. One battery was very loose so I had to bend the metal pins that hold the batteries in place. Definitely a pain in the ass, that made it worse. I'm not sure most people would think to check this. So if you have this problem, try bending them to make the battery hold better. Biggest plus and I had no idea it was included when I ordered the plug too. To be honest this is most likely what we will end up using as I hate buying batteries and rechargeable ones don't last that long. Once the batteries in this device die, that's probably all we'll be using. It works well and I love that you can blunt the tip or make it nice and sharp. The only thing that would really improve this would be if it ran on lithium-ion batteries that could be charged with a cable. I'm not sure if it's ok to leave the batteries on while using the cable, I won't try it, I know it can be dangerous at times. it cost more than i would ever pay for a sharpener but since i got it for free i am very happy with it. Definitely great if you are used to using knife blades that are very difficult to pry the lead rod out of. It's also no louder or quieter than any other sharpener I've used.
