Review on πŸͺš WEN Variable Detail Sander 6307 by James Roper

Unacceptable quality

The old adage says "You get what you pay for" and it couldn't be more applicable to this item. I usually avoid cheap Chinese tools, but I saw positive reviews and decided to give it a try. The positive points I can point out are that the belt tension system keeps the belts in place so they don't slip and the speed control gives a good range. Now for the not so good ones. There is no way to adjust the tape run. Immediately after unpacking, it shifted a little to the side. It got worse after 10-15 minutes of use. So bad that part of the surface of the camp ended up being exposed. This bearing is basically a roller skate bearing with poor sealing and it is riveted. A replacement will be needed sooner rather than later, and it won't be fun work. But it can't even last that long. Motor cooling is very poor and the tool got very hot after a short use. The cable works, but it is of very poor quality and in terms of rigidity, it can even be aluminum, not copper. To top it all off, the abrasive belts have an area of approx. 1 cm without abrasive at the point of their binding. The strap works fine, you can find it ok. Otherwise you'll have to do what I did, buy a better quality instrument.

Pros
  • The speed control runs the belt between 1080 and 1800 fpm
Cons
  • Small change
