For some reason I bought one of these on sale at Lowes for $5. I had to buy a suitcase. ok, only five left. I really love these things. Living on a farm I always seem to need a ratchet strap for something, and if you've ever used one of the traditional flat nylon straps you know they can be annoying. They stick, wear out, spin and the ratchet can be difficult to manipulate in hard-to-reach places. With a rope ratchet, you can do your best to pull the rope taut, it's very easy to unlock, and if it loosens, it's very easy to reel it back in. My only gripe is the length, but it's an easy fix, just thread your own 3/8" rope through whatever length you need. The recommended payload is small, but they're great for light hauls.
