Review on DROK 110V 220V Converter Adjustable Transformer by James Hodzic

Completely mislabeled and almost damaged unit

I bought this power supply to replace another 48V 10A power supply that was dying. Since this has a variable voltage output, I decided to plug it into an outlet separately first rather than plugging directly into the $3,000 car I was renovating. Thank the electric gods I made it! For those of you familiar with these types of power supplies, the connectors themselves are usually marked with engraving on the metal case. However, there was a sticker for this power supply. The sticker was applied upside down. This meant that when I connected my 110V power supply and thought I was going to connect it to L, N and ground, I actually connected all three to the DC V+ output. Plugging it in caused sparks, knocked out power, and if I put it in my car it would probably break something in there too. the engraving under the sticker was (and correct). In the attached picture you can still see the incorrectly labeled "N" terminal. Be very careful with them! The replacement I ordered had the correct orientation of the sticker (and you can tell this by looking just behind the terminal blocks at the PCB which is also labeled - no need to disassemble) but it is clear this is an accident.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some difficulties
