Review on 3000 Watt Voltage Converter Transformer Protection by Domonic Roberts
Lots of power, lots of compatibility, lots of cheap
My friends told me I would have to spend about a thousand for any quality 120->240v transformer, but this under $100 type worked perfectly. I haven't had a chance to try the downconvert, but the upconvert works fine. The 240v plug I used was a little loose in the socket, which I attribute to it being supposed to be internationally compliant, but not to an alarming degree. I wouldn't use a device like this for a permanent installation, but it's perfect for trying out a few things before my 240v house connection is ready.
