Additive Manufacturing Product Printing Errors

I have been printing with both FDM and SLA 3D for several years and have used several brands of different resins in the past. I have NEVER had this problem with resin sticking to the build plate of my Anycubic Photon. I used to use Siraya Tech Gray and this stuff was on sale so I decided to give it a try. The first impression is that the aluminum bottle feels comfortable. It was sealed very well and packed securely in a bubble tube inside the box. Upon opening, the smell isn't that bad, but a bit smellier (that's the technical term) than the Siraya Tech I'm used to. The settings in Chitubox are in the recommended range, cut out some minis and start typing. I check half and all 7 thumbnails print fine at first. Before they're done though, I find that 6 have come loose from the build plate and only 1 is complete. I will say that the one that has been completed looks fantastic and even the other 6 partial prints look very good. If you can get it to stick to the build plate, it prints really well. OK, let's try again. I increased the exposure time and the number of layers of the bottom layer from the recommended 8 layers to 16 and the time from 30 seconds to 45 seconds. Do not go. Failure after several shifts. I'm cleaning everything up now and realizing that this resin is also a lot more liquid than Siraya Tech, so I think the more liquid resin might have too much space between the buildplate and the FEP, so I lower my house Z by about 0.1 mm. Still does not work. I try different slicer settings, bottom layer exposure time, number of bottom layers, normal layer exposure time, lift speed, etc. Nothing else sticks to my print bed. I'm not sure why the first print was mostly successful, but nothing prints after that. After 8 complete failures I continue. I'll probably try again in the future, but now I've gone back to my Siraya Tech and it prints back to normal straight away.

Pros
  • Safe and Secure
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
