Review on 🔌 Sabrent HDMI Extension Cable over Cat5/6 RJ45 Extender Adapter (Up to 200-Feet) with Power Adapter - HDMI-EXTC by Johnny Grant

I ordered 4 in total, 1 to start, then 3 more. The 1st and 1st of 3 from the second delivery have a serious defect, the RJ45 ports of both the sender and receiver are labeled the same ie "VIDEO” is on the left and "DDC” is on the right when CAT6 cables are connected between them. Sender and receiver according to the labels on the case, this will NOT work at all. CAT6 cables must be crossed. A newer batch (2 of 3 from the second batch) has had this issue fixed. Since it didn't work at all (because I hadn't cut the cable), the first time I used it as a computer scientist I immediately opened the transmitter and receiver and found that the labels on the case were wrong. This box uses the Maxim MAX3815 chip, according to the chip specification, if it is MAX3815A, it supports up to 35 meters (116 feet) at 2.25Gbps HDMI 1.3 when using twisted pair AWG24 wires. It would be better not to rely on 200ft for all HDMI signal formats. For example, if you use a real (not fake) 200ft CAT6 AWG24 cable, it didn't work at all for 1080p60 (165MHz pixel clock) and 1080i60 (74.5MHz pixel clock), it worked fine on CAT6 -100 feet of AWG24 wire. There was a major issue with the correct labels on the RJ45 connectors, they changed the PCB version to use an HDMI pass-through connector instead of the SMD HDMI connector in the older version, and on the receiver side it looks like this , as if there were impedance mismatches at the HDMI output (FYI there is a MAX3815 on the receiver side) so my HDMI monitor was getting a very unstable screen output as a result. To match the impedance of the TMDS signals, I added a thin tin alloy shielding foil just below the HDMI connector and grounded the shielding by soldering it to the ground layer of the bottom PCB, after which it works normally. In summary I think this is a very cheap, good, and simple product using a MAX3815 that seems to work well as long as the board is properly sized to match the impedance of TMDS signals at this price point one can imagine don't complain so much :) In my opinion one shouldn't say "up to 200ft", maybe 125ft is safer numbers.
