I bought this item because I couldn't find a 6" fan cover at any of my local wholesalers (4" is the norm, but I bought a very large fan that requires 6" to work just like a vent cover and the installation was easy.I've read other reviews that complained about installing a metal duct (which comes as flat sheet metal) but I had no problems installing this duct and inserting it into the plastic case (The whole task took less than a minute.) I added a stainless steel wire mesh to the vent cover because I was concerned about insects entering through the vents while the fan was on, but that was a purely personal choice.
